Wifi won't work

Postby sna » Mon Jan 28, 2013 10:46 pm

I have Airlink101 AWLL5088:
Chipset: Realtek RTL8188CUS
ID: 0bda:8176

I used the driver by a.alekizoglou but it didn't work. Wifi won't turn on. Switched back to old rkwifi.ko file and now the internal wifi won't turn on either. So now instead of unstable wifi, I have no wifi. Please help! I've attached dmesg and logcat.

2) rename /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko -> /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko.old in case you need that later
3) rename /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko -> /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko
4) fix permit ions, I do that from terminal, but I think you can do that from ESExplorer as well
chmod go+r /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko
chown root:root /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko

Will a cisco ae2500 (bcm43236) work with my mk808 on finless 1.6? Tried the powered usb hub method but it just connects to the internal wifi.

Tried the precompiled bcmdhd.ko from page 4 but it looks like I'll have to make my own for bcm43236.

I uploaded a firmware yesterday. which have already modified. you can try.

http://ppl.ug/iK4AVhUMmGI/

Hi, rainlake
Does this firmware support a RTL8192CU/RTL8181 USB2.0 Wifi dongle PNP on MK808(not MK808b)? I don't know too much about Linux and don't have Linux OS, to buy a USB 2.0 wifi dongle seems much easier in this case. The firmware you provided, named with buletooth.........., but MK808 doesn't have BT on it.
Kindly advise on how to flash this firmware, with which flashtool? do I need to flash the kernel.img/boot.img or just flash the system.img? Does this firmware also support 1080p OS?
Thanks.

how do I do it by working for my USB Wifi TP-Link TL-WN422G v2 (Chipset: Atheros AR927) on mk808b?
I don't know much about this, can anyone help me please?
already tried what is described on the site:

I'm waiting for the answer ...

help me please ...
thanks .. ;)

rainlake wrote:thanks for Omegamoon post link of mk808 kernel. And sorry for my bad english.
I have a dlink dwa-135 wifi adapter, chipset is rtl8192cu. downloaded driver from realtek website.
modify Makefile of driver.
(1) add -fno-pic :EXTRA_CFLAGS += -Wno-uninitialized -fno-pic
(2) add rock3066
CONFIG_PLATFORM_I386_PC = n
CONFIG_PLATFORM_ARM_RK3066 = y
ifeq ($(CONFIG_PLATFORM_ARM_RK3066), y)
EXTRA_CFLAGS += -DCONFIG_LITTLE_ENDIAN -DCONFIG_PLATFORM_ANDROID -DCONFIG_PLATFORM_ROCKCHIPS -DCONFIG_MINIMAL_MEMORY_USAGE
ARCH := arm
CROSS_COMPILE := [***1***]
KSRC := [****2****]
MODULE_NAME := rtl8192cu
endif

[***1***] is location of arm toolchain. I use ndk. like android-ndk-r8/toolchains/arm-linux-androideabi-4.4.3/prebuilt/linux-x86/bin/arm-linux-androideabi-
[****2****] is locktion of rk3066 kernel.

and execute make in driver directory. you will get drive module rtl8192cu.ko.
enable /system write: adb remount . or mount -o rw,remount /system in terminal emulator.
push it to mk808: adb push rtl8192cu.ko /system/lib/modules.
and insmod: insmod /system/lib/modules/rtl8192cu.ko.

disable wifi in android settings->wifi
plugin wifi adapter then reenable wifi in android wifi settings.

now my wifi adapter is bring up and connected to my router.

tested streaming youtube and 1080p films on my nas. all of them works fine.

I believe other wifi adapters will work fine if you can build driver for mk808.

to auto bring up wifi adapter. I replaced /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko with rtl8192cu.ko. everything works fine. wifi adapter will bring up automaticly.

Can somebody helping me with a proper .ko file ? I will be verry gratefull !

Hi,

I have this dongle:
http://service.targa.de/antworten.php?l ... 11&serial=

WIth 8188cu chipset and the exactly the same usb id like your, I downloaded your driver, I turn wifi off, I load the driver, I connect the dongle, I turn wifi on, and it freezes, I have a MK808 with finless 1.6, so kernel 3.0.8.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Armtvtech community and developers,

I've been enjoying my mk808 for some months now and the wifi antennas decided to crap out on me. The signal drops out constantly, causing me to switch it on and off. Very annoying problem. Coincidentally earlier this week my brother came home with a linksys usb wifi adapter :). It's the model Linksys wubs54g (v4) which has the Ralink rt2500usb chipset.

I've downloaded the driver pack posted on p.4 of this thread, which contained the driver (rt2500usb.ko) but it doesn't work. I get the 'Exec format error' when trying to insmod in terminal emulator (followed some instructions from this thread, have no experience with this stuff). I've read that it's not working because it's compiled for a different kernel. I'm on Finless 1.6 right now (kernel 3.0.8+). I'd really appreciate it if anyone with some time on his hands could compile it for this kernel. Here's a link to the driver pack which contains rt2500usb.sys. (is this the right one?) http://downloads.linksys.com/downloads/ ... -eu_dr.zip

Did you make any progress on this? I'm encountering the same issue with my DWA-140. The MK808 tries to connect to my router but according to the router's log a wrong (or no?) wifi key is used. The settings in RT2870STA regarding SSID, Encryption and PSK are OK. I'll post the whole file later on when I have access to the device again.

Hi!

I have an MK808B (original, with RK903 WiFi/Bluetooth module on board). I would like to use my TP-Link TL-WN821N V3 USB Wifi instead of built in RK903.
I successfully built the kernel modules for this device (ath.ko, ath9k_hw.ko, ath9k_common.ko, ath9k_htc.ko).
I can load the modules with insmod, than in dmesg output I see, that the device is correct detected, and the necessary firmware successfully uploaded. But when I turn the Wifi on in the menu, than the MK808B freezes.

My first problem is: I cannot unload the rkwifi.ko with rmmod, because there is no rkwifi in lsmod output!
I have rename the rkwifi.ko to rkwifi.ko_old and rebooted the device. Than I have no Wifi (even if I loaded the ath modules), and in dmesg (when I try to turn on the wifi) output I see the following message: "Current wifi chip is RK903.".

I also tried to edit my init.rk30board.rc (flashed as new boot.img) with:

Code: Select all

service wpa_supplicant /system/bin/wpa_supplicant \
-Dwext -iwlan0 -c/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

and in boot section:

Code: Select all

rmmod /system/lib/modules/rkwifi.ko
insmod /system/lib/modules/ath.ko
insmod /system/lib/modules/ath9k_hw.ko
insmod /system/lib/modules/ath9k_common.ko
insmod /system/lib/modules/ath9k_htc.ko

but the result is the same (after boot use the device the RK903, and on wifi turn off, than on the device freezes).

Have you any idea what my problem is? Where is defined, that the device has an RK903 Wifi module (I mean on "Current wifi chip is RK903." message)? Can I modify this definition?

This is the situation with original factory firmware and with Finless 1.7.

Thanks for your help,

vargalex

ciao, I have a Wifi TP-Link TL-WN422G v2 (Chipset: Atheros AR9271) too. as for the other users, giving the following commands: insmod ath.ko, insmod ath9k.ko and insmod ath9k_common.ko I have no error messages in terminal but usb wifi dongle does not active... I have also dongles with RTL8192SU but I have not found anything about an 8192su.ko online... I think the only alternative is to find a wifi dongle with rtl8192cu. ciao :-)

edit: found this on xda for asus TF300T and Atheros AR9271. but now I am at work and I can't try

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=2133854

edit 2: doesn't work... "(Exec format error)"... different cpu... pity
